Sunil Shetty (born 11 August 1961). is an Indian film actor , producer and entrepreneur predominantly active in Bollywood . He made his mark in the industry doing action-oriented films [ 1 ] and has starred in many Hindi films like Mohra , Dilwale , Krishna , Hera Pheri , Sapoot and Bhai .

Shetty won a Filmfare Award for Best Villain in 2001 for the film Dhadkan . [ 2 ] He has also produced films like Khel – No Ordinary Game , Rakht , Bhagam Bhag under the banner of [replacesinglequotehere]Popcorn Motion Pictures[replacesinglequotehere].

Suniel Shetty was signed as the leading man by Pahlaj Nihalani for the film Ek Aur Faulad , but production was cancelled due to creative differences. Shetty eventually commenced his film career with the film Balwaan with Divya Bharti in 1992. The film was a moderate success. His second release, Waqt Hamara Hai with Akshay Kumar , was also met with success. His big brother role in Pehchaan along with Saif Ali Khan , Shilpa Shirodkar and Madhoo also did well at the box office.

Shetty achieved further career stability in 1994 starring in the films Anth paired with Somy Ali and Dilwale co-starring Ajay Devgan and Raveena Tandon , both became a success followed by the blockbuster Mohra with Akshay Kumar . Shetty would later feature in comedy roles with films such as Gopi Kishan , and the remake of Tamil hit Avasara Police 100 , which became a box office hit. Hum Hain Bemisaal with Akshay Kumar did only average business. Among his four releases of 1995, Raghuveer , Gaddaar and Takkar did good business and he played the anti hero for the first time in Gaddaar and pitted against Naseeruddin Shah in Takkar along with Sonali Bendre . 1996 was an average year for him as most of his films Vishwasghaat , Shastra , Ek Tha Raja , Sapoot performed average, But Rakshak and Krishna became hit. Rakshak is not only a hit but also bigest hit of him(Solo acted) as it was in a theater of rajasthan till 2004, after the VAT act 2004 it was got out of that theater but DDLJ (Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayange) is still there in maratha mandir (Mumbai) to make a record. while in 1997 he was appreciated for his performance in the war epic blockbuster Border and Bhai released on Diwali was a success despite coinciding with Shahrukh Khan [replacesinglequotehere]s Dil To Pagal Hai .

This decade started with Dhadkan once again with Akshay Kumar earned him the Filmfare Best Villain Award for his performance as well as huge box office success. Shetty was a part of many successful multi starrers like [Hera Pheri] , [Refugee] , [Jungle] , Awara Paagal Deewana , [Kaante] , [Aan: Men At Work] , [Dus] , Qayamat: City Under Threat , Main Hoon Na , Hulchul , Chup Chup Ke , Apna Sapna Money Money , Shootout at Lokhandwala , One Two Three , De Dana Dan and Phir Hera Pheri throughout this decade. In 2009 he won SAIFF (South Asia International Film Festival) as a Best Actor for the film Red Alert: The War Within .

In 2010, he starred in Daddy Cool , De Dana Dan , and No Problem , whereas in 2011, he only starred in Thank You , which was a box office average.

As a producer , he set up a production company called Popcorn Motion Pictures Ltd, which produced the films Khel – No Ordinary Game (2003), Rakht: What If You Can See the Future and Bhagam Bhag (2006). In recent years he has mostly played small roles in multi-starred films. Besides Bollywood he appeared in the English film Don[replacesinglequotehere]t Stop Dreaming in 2007 and the Tamil film 12B . He also hosted Biggest Loser Jeetega on Sahara One . [ 3 ] Sunil Shetty is now also captain of the Mumbai Heroes cricket team in the Celebrity cricket league. [ 4 ]

Shetty will be seen in Ajay Phansekar[replacesinglequotehere]s untitled Marathi film . It[replacesinglequotehere]s the story of a young boy and his mother and their intense relationship with an upright cop, the role that Shetty is playing.

Suniel Shetty was born in a Tulu speaking ethnic Bunt [ 5 ] [ 6 ] family on 11 August 1961 in Mulki , India [ 5 ] The actor also owns restaurants specialising in Udupi cuisine and clothing boutiques. [ 7 ]

He is married to Mana Shetty and has two children named Athiya (born 5 November 1992) [ 8 ] and Ahan (born 15 January 1996). [ 9 ] Mana runs an NGO for under-privileged kids [ 10 ] He has a Black Belt in Kick Boxing. [ 11 ]
